Context is a desktop application provided by Ritech International AG ("Ritech"). This Privacy Policy explains how Context accesses, uses, stores, and shares information, including when users connect Google Drive for backup and sync or use AI features.
Google user data accessed by Context
Context requests the following Google OAuth scopes:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata- used to store and retrieve app-specific Context backup files in the user's hidden Google Drive application data folder.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email- used to display the email address of the Google account connected to Context.
How Google user data is used
Google Drive access is used only to provide backup and sync functionality for Context data. Context stores backup files created by the app and restores those files when requested by the user.
Context does not access, browse, edit, delete, or download files from the user's visible Google Drive. Context uses the Google Drive application data folder, which is intended for app-specific data.
The connected Google account email address is used only to show the user which Google account is connected inside Context.
Context uses Google Drive only as a storage location for these app-specific backup files. Context does not use Google Drive data for advertising, user profiling, credit decisions, AI model training, or resale.
AI features and included context
When users use Context's chat, transcription, image generation, or other AI features, included context items or app content may be sent to the AI provider configured by the user, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or a local Ollama instance, in order to generate responses or process the requested task.
AI provider usage is separate from the Google Drive backup and sync feature. Connecting Google Drive does not by itself send Google Drive backup files to AI providers.
Storage and security
OAuth tokens are stored locally on the user's device. Where supported by the operating system and Electron, Context encrypts these tokens using OS-backed secure storage.
Backup files are stored in the user's own Google Drive application data folder.
Context does not send Google Drive backup files or Google OAuth tokens to Ritech servers for this backup feature.
Context backup files may include the app database and user-owned app content stored in Context, such as text/context records, screenshots, video thumbnails, and video or audio files captured or added by the user. Google Drive sync backups do not include the user's local app settings table.
Sharing and sale of data
Ritech does not sell Google user data.
For the Google Drive backup and sync feature, Context uses Google user data only to store, retrieve, and manage app-specific backup files in the user's Google Drive application data folder.
Separately, when users use Context's chat, transcription, image generation, or other AI features, included context items or app content may be sent to the AI provider configured by the user in order to generate responses or process the requested task.
Context does not use Google Drive data for advertising, user profiling, credit decisions, AI model training by Ritech, or resale.
User control
Users can disconnect Google Drive from Context inside the app. Disconnecting Google Drive removes the locally stored OAuth token from the user's device.
Backup files already stored in the user's Google Drive application data folder may remain in the user's Google account unless the user deletes the app data or removes Context's access through Google Account permissions.
Users can also revoke Context's access at any time from their Google Account permissions page.
Limited Use of Google user data
Context's use and transfer to any other application of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
Ritech may update this Privacy Policy when Context changes how it accesses, uses, stores, or shares user data. Updates will be posted on this page.
